April 8, 2021
Ahh Salesforce Live, it’s the event all true Salesforce geeks look forward to. It’s an opportunity to learn about new technologies, discover new ways of thinking, expand your Salesforce knowledge, and hear from industry experts and fellow Trailblazers.
This year, Salesforce Live 2021 is running from 24 March – 29 April. All sessions are virtual and cover topics ranging from SMB’s to enterprise, and private small businesses to government. Sessions cover industries such as retail, healthcare, non-profit, real estate, consumer goods, financial services, high-tech, communications, media, manufacturing, automotive, and everything in between. There is something for everyone at Salesforce Live this year. So, how do you make the most of this year’s virtual Salesforce Live?
One big missing piece of not being able to meet in person this year is the lost opportunity of networking with others. Luckily, Salesforce has created a networking option for the virtual event.
If you haven’t already, be sure to fill out your profile so that you can more easily connect with other event-goers. This includes adding your name, email, picture, phone number, company, job title, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and a short bio about yourself. Salesforce Live is a great opportunity to connect with other professionals in the Salesforce community. The most important step in setting up your profile is to go into “My Privacy” and switch on the “Discoverable in Networking” setting. This will allow the details of your profile to be revealed to other event-goers and allow you to get to know others through the “Networking” tab, where you are able to chat and make connections with others.
To get the most out of Salesforce Live you will want to be sure to prioritise your top sessions and carve out time in your schedule to be sure you can attend them live.
If you are dedicating full workdays for Salesforce Live, be sure to pay attention to session times. There are sessions that overlap, be sure to prioritise the sessions you feel you will get the most out of. If you are trying to juggle working and going to the virtual event, be sure to plan a few weeks in advance and add sessions to your calendar early so that you can plan your workday around your favourite speaking events. Say you happen to miss a session you were looking forward to attending, that’s ok! You are able to go back into the “Agenda” tab and watch the recording of the session from start to finish.
During live sessions, be sure to engage with speakers in the sessions and pop a question into the live chat. If you miss the opportunity to engage with the speakers at the live event or your question is not addressed, the “Speakers” tab contains speaker profiles where you can learn more about them, see what sessions they are leading and see where you can connect with them. If you are bold, find the speakers on their social media channels and slide into their DM’s with pending questions from the sessions.
Speaking of social media, be sure to engage on social media too! Use the hashtag #SalesforceLive in your posts and follow the #SalesforceLive hashtag on Twitter to stay up-to-date with current event activity. It is so amazing to see people all around the world attending the same virtual event as you.
A great way to get the most out of Salesforce Live is to attend sessions with your co-workers or other Trailblazers in your network. These events are so much more fun when you have a buddy to go with. It’s great to talk to someone else and hear about their perspective on the sessions and talk more in-depth about the topics discussed at the event.
Even better, if you have made new connections in the Networking tab at the virtual event, attend some events with them and talk about what you learned in that session.
Sometimes you miss key points the first time that you may not have realised; go back, review and re-watch sessions. It is easy to get distracted sitting at home, maybe your plant needs to be watered or your dog needs to be fed. Attending a virtual event is not as immersive as attending an in-person event, so it may not be as easy to really soak in the information you have watched and heard. With the event being virtual, all sessions are recorded, which is amazing! You can go back and rewatch those sessions that were really important to you and focus more on the details that the speakers covered in the sessions.
(Ok, this step is a little biased…)
Our pack of experts have been attending Salesforce Live events for years (call us old dogs). We asked the team what their favourite sessions were so far and what they are looking forward to in the next few weeks, here’s what they said:
